ALL RISE. Twelve managers received $200. They bought 156 players and left $69 behind. Several built basketball teams. Several bought three basketball players and a group project. The court has receipts, and the commissioners will be tried first.

James's Scary Team spent $185 on Luka, Shai and Bam. Ten other players share $15. James, the scary part is payroll. Your stars got contracts. Everybody else was hired for the exposure. Seven players cost $1, which means your bench can be outbid by a vending machine.

Michelle gave Cade, Mitchell, LaMelo and Garland $191. Her other nine players cost a dollar each. Game of Throws has four VIPs and nine people holding their coats. The court recommends a tip jar beside the lineup screen. Perhaps the stars can help fund their own supporting cast.

Kayla paid $75 for Brunson, $67 for Giannis and $38 for Sabonis. Experiment 626 has $180 in three ingredients and $20 in ten test subjects. The new alien logo has four arms. Good. Somebody has to carry this bench.

Commissioner John bought Davis, Durant and Kawhi for $73 combined, the same price as James's Luka. Then The Professors left $18 unused. John brought a calculator, assembled a syllabus and forgot to spend the stationery allowance. Unused auction money earns zero points. The school does not issue refunds.

Co-commissioner Janise left $29 behind, the biggest unused balance in the room. Jahs Finest Team spent $171 of a free $200 budget. Janise, you negotiated against yourself and still came away with change. Please stop treating imaginary money like it needs to cover groceries.

Co-commissioner Mike Surin paid $86 for Jokic and $55 for Flagg. Brooklyn's two royal appointments consumed $141. Eleven other players share $59. The KINGS have passed a budget. The peasants have been invited to admire it.

GUILTY. Community service: explain your bench without using the word upside.

Price roast & opinion

I brought a calculator. You brought feelings.

I inspected the other six receipts. Some of you even made it difficult to insult you. Rude. I showed up prepared, and now I have to work around competent shopping.

Monika's Neeks in Five spent every dollar and bought nobody below $7. Jalen Williams at $24 was the most expensive player. Thirteen purchases, thirteen respectable paychecks. Neeks arrived at a salary draft and understood both words. Disgusting behavior. I assume the spreadsheet has its own little seatbelt.

Port Hoops paid $52 for Jalen Johnson and $39 for Scottie Barnes, then bought LeBron, Jaylen Brown, Jamal Murray and Derrick White for another $89. Six players, $180. Vucevic cost $2. Mike furnished the penthouse and made the last veteran sleep beside the checkout gum.

Dwayne's Boss Tags paid $39 for Austin Reaves. Embiid, Clingan and Rollins cost $11 EACH. Reaves cost more than that whole trio. Dwayne's pricing gun treated three wildly different names like a clearance rack, then charged Reaves for the privilege of walking past it. Boss Tags? The tags were certainly bossing somebody around.

Antonis7 spent $131 on Maxey, Amen and Haliburton. Paul George, Porzingis and Poeltl cost $6 combined. Antonis ordered the deluxe entree, then asked whether the rest of the roster came free with the bread basket. You could tip the waiter more than you paid those three.

Nicholas paid $39 for Trae, $39 for Sengun and $37 for Booker. Apparently $39 is a valuation system now. Nicholas's Nasty Team put $115 into three names and called it diversification. I see a man who found the bid button he liked and wore the number off it.

Kevin paid $75 for Wembanyama, $30 for Siakam and $27 each for Giddey and Bridges. Myles Turner cost $1. Ten dollars went unused. The Tune Squad bought the headliner, booked the band and forgot there was still money in the merch stand. Please spend your encore budget before leaving the venue next time.

Keep the receipt. I intend to be unbearable.

Verified pickup, roster advice & roast

You left $29 at the auction and found the $1 aisle.

LISTEN TO THE ROAST

The first verified post-draft pickup belongs to Janise: Cameron Johnson for a $1 waiver bid at the October 11 processing run. Jah has fourteen rostered players in that snapshot, with Ingram in IR. The auction was barely cold before the shopping resumed.

Janise left $29 of draft money unused and then spent a dollar from the separate waiver wallet. That sequence belongs in a museum. It is the fantasy equivalent of leaving $29 on your supermarket gift card, then buying dinner at the gas station.

James drafted seven $1 players. Michelle drafted nine. Kayla drafted eight. The waiver wire will recognize you three on sight. Please learn its hours: claims process at 6 a.m. Eastern. A Sunday panic does not come with express shipping.

Seven $1 adds across each of twenty weeks cost $140. The season wallet starts at $100. Some of you already struggled to spend money that expires; I am fascinated to see how you handle money that runs out.

Set the lineup. The dollar-store staff can't do everything.

Keeper calculations & opinion

Your dynasty has exceeded its credit limit.

LISTEN TO THE ROAST

I ran the first keeper bills. James's Luka, Shai and Bam become $80, $79 and $44: $203. Ten empty spots need another $10. Required budget: $213. James has already drafted next year's difficult conversation. The three-star group photo needs a crop tool.

Michelle's Cade, Mitchell and LaMelo become $192 together. Add ten minimum roster spots: $202. Two dollars over. A whole dynasty defeated by the money you find between couch cushions. Garland isn't even in that calculation. He gets to watch the eviction from the hallway.

Kayla's Giannis, Brunson and Sabonis become $198, with another $10 needed for ten slots. Total: $208. Experiment 626's next laboratory problem is squeezing $208 through a $200 door. Four alien arms will not help. Bring scissors.

Brooklyn's Jokic and Flagg become $154 together, leaving $46 for eleven players. That pair clears the minimum reserve. Congratulations to the monarchy for discovering arithmetic before issuing a constitution. Somebody still has to shop with the remaining money.

The $1 acquisitions start at $4 on their first keep. Turner, Jabari Smith Jr., LaVine and Cameron Johnson have cheap starting bills. The annual increases keep coming. Trades carry the salary history, so spare me the salesman routine about a change of owner wiping the ledger clean. I have the paperwork.

Send the salary ledger. Your dynasty speech has been declined.

Preseason projection analysis & opinion

The expensive posters are at the bottom of the pile.

LISTEN TO THE ROAST

The October 11 roster-total estimates put Port Hoops first, Neeks second and Boss Tags third. Brooklyn is fourth, The Professors fifth and Antonis7 sixth. The opening order favors enough people to fill a roster over enough names to sell a poster. I expect several offended owners to request a recount of the font size.

Jah is seventh, Tune Squad eighth and Nicholas ninth. Experiment 626 is tenth, James eleventh and Game of Throws twelfth. Kayla, James and Michelle bought the brightest marquees and landed at the bottom of this particular estimate. Apparently the projection also wanted someone to work the concession stand.

Kevin's $75 Wembanyama and Kayla's $75 Brunson bought very different silhouettes. John's $73 trio matched James's $73 Luka. Dwayne paid the same $11 for Embiid, Clingan and Rollins. The draft has already supplied arguments for months. Nobody needs to manufacture a rivalry when the invoices are this irritating.

Neeks in Five sounds like a prediction. Port Hoops sounds like somewhere you buy a boat. They currently lead the preseason spreadsheet while the scary team and the throwing team inspect the basement. The league spent all week getting logos with attitude. Two quieter names got the larger estimated totals.

These are aggregate roster estimates, not win totals. The first games will supply the actual verdicts. Until then, the star collectors can rehearse their explanations, the bargain hunters can rehearse their victory laps, and Janise can rehearse spending the whole budget.

The logos look expensive. Fortunately, we didn't let you bid on those.
